Scope: Heavy & Specialised Transport · Multimodal Transport · Project Logistics
Origin: Mumbai Port, India
Destination: Rajkot, Gujarat
Cargo: 20 Packages — Automated Hydraulic Cold Forging Press
Total Weight: 200 MT
The Project
Industrial machinery of this scale does not arrive in a single piece or move by conventional means. A 200 MT Automated Hydraulic Cold Forging Press, arriving at Mumbai Port across 20 packages, required a logistics partner capable of managing port operations, specialised road transportation, and multi-equipment convoy coordination across the Mumbai-to-Rajkot corridor.
Nabros managed the complete operation from port receipt to factory delivery.
The Challenge
A consignment of 20 packages totalling 200 MT presents a coordination challenge that is both logistical and operational. Each package required individual assessment for weight, dimensions, and handling requirements — and the combined deployment of a multi-trailer fleet to move the full consignment efficiently and safely from port to destination.
The Mumbai-to-Rajkot corridor, while manageable, presented the standard constraints of Indian highway logistics — traffic management, permit requirements for oversized loads, and the need for precise convoy sequencing across a mixed fleet of vehicles.
For the client, the forging press represented a significant capital investment and a critical piece of manufacturing infrastructure. Its safe, timely delivery to the facility in Rajkot was directly tied to their production timelines.
The Execution
Fleet Deployment & Configuration
Nabros deployed a purpose-configured fleet specifically for this consignment:
- 12 + 1½ axle trailers with puller
- 5 normal trailers
- 1 ODC trailer
- 1 low-bed trailer
Each vehicle was assigned to specific packages based on weight and dimensional requirements — ensuring correct load distribution and safe transport across the full 20-package consignment.
Port Operations
At Mumbai Port, Nabros coordinated the receipt and offloading of all 20 packages from the vessel — supervising each lift, verifying cargo condition, and coordinating yard positioning before road transport commenced.
Convoy Management
The multi-vehicle convoy was managed with dedicated escort deployment throughout the Mumbai-to-Rajkot corridor — ensuring safe movement, traffic coordination, and permit compliance for the oversized elements of the consignment.
Factory Delivery
All 20 packages were delivered to the client facility in Rajkot and positioned for installation — completing the full port-to-factory scope under Nabros’ management.
The Outcome
All 200 MT of forging press equipment was delivered safely to Rajkot, on schedule and without incident. The operation demonstrated Nabros’ capacity to manage complex, multi-package industrial machinery movements with the fleet depth, coordination capability, and operational discipline that heavy manufacturing clients require.
