The Project
Large-scale bulk chemical imports demand a level of port coordination, cargo management, and logistics precision that goes well beyond standard freight handling. When Nabros was appointed to manage two significant consignments of Purified Terephthalic Acid arriving in India from Asia, the scale of the operation — over 5,000 MT across two separate origins — required a single point of accountability managing every element from vessel arrival to port-to-industry delivery.
The Challenge
The assignment involved two distinct consignments arriving from different countries:
- 2,520 bags weighing 3,032.568 MT from Dalian, China
- 1,675 bags weighing 2,010 MT from Laem Chabang Port, Thailand
Managing two large-volume chemical shipments simultaneously — each with their own vessel schedules, port documentation, customs requirements, and handling specifications — required disciplined coordination across multiple teams, ports, and timelines. PTA, as an industrial chemical, also demands careful handling protocols to prevent contamination or damage during port operations.
The combined volume of over 5,000 MT meant that any breakdown in coordination at the port level had the potential to cascade into significant delays and additional costs for the client.
The Execution
Vessel Coordination & Port Operations
Nabros coordinated vessel arrivals from both origins, managing berth allocation, vessel scheduling, and port authority liaison for each shipment. Port-side supervision ensured that every bag was offloaded, counted, and accounted for — with zero discrepancy between manifest and actual cargo.
Cargo Handling & Storage
Given the volume and nature of the cargo, careful handling protocols were maintained throughout port operations. Each bag was managed to prevent damage, contamination, or loss — maintaining the integrity of the chemical consignment from vessel hold to port storage.
Customs Clearance
All import documentation and customs clearance was handled by the team — ensuring accurate classification, timely filing, and smooth clearance for both consignments without delays at the port.
Port-to-Industry Delivery
Following clearance, the cargo was coordinated for onward delivery — completing the full port-to-industry supply chain under Nabros’ single-window management.
The Outcome
Both consignments were received, cleared, and delivered without incident — a combined 5,000+ MT managed seamlessly across two international origins. The operation demonstrated Nabros’ capability to handle large-volume bulk chemical imports with the same precision and reliability it brings to every complex logistics assignment.
