The Project

The Vestas Bavla-to-Kandla operation was not a single movement — it was a sustained, high-volume logistics programme requiring Nabros to function as a seamless extension of Vestas’ manufacturing and export supply chain.

Over the course of the programme, Nabros transported more than 1,000 wind turbine blades, each measuring 59 metres in length, from the Vestas manufacturing facility in Bavla, Gujarat to Kandla Port — managing every stage of the journey from factory gate to vessel hook.

The Challenge

The scale of this assignment introduced a category of complexity distinct from single-movement projects. Transporting 1,000 blades is not simply repeating the same operation 1,000 times — it is managing a continuous logistics programme where consistency, scheduling discipline, and zero-error execution must be maintained across every single movement.

Each blade, at 59 metres, required specialised road transportation with dedicated escort vehicles, route management, and port coordination. Any disruption — a missed scheduling window, a port berth delay, or a loading issue — had the potential to create a backlog that cascaded across the entire programme.

For Vestas, whose manufacturing output was directly tied to the pace of this logistics programme, the requirement was not just competence — it was reliability, sustained across hundreds of movements over an extended period.

The Execution

Road Transportation
Each blade was transported from the Bavla facility to Kandla Port using specialised blade trailers, with dedicated escorts and pre-planned routing. Given the volume of movements, Nabros operated a disciplined scheduling system — coordinating trailer availability, driver deployment, and escort resources across concurrent movements to maintain programme velocity without compromising safety.

Port Operations & Unloading
At Kandla Port, Nabros managed all port-side operations — coordinating berth access, supervising blade offloading from road trailers, and overseeing safe lay-down within the port’s storage areas. With multiple blades arriving on a continuous basis, port coordination was critical to preventing bottlenecks between road delivery and vessel loading.

Vessel Hook Delivery
Each batch of blades was loaded directly onto the designated vessel under Nabros’ supervision — with load securing, stowage configuration, and final hook delivery completed to Vestas’ specification and satisfaction.

The Outcome

All 1,000+ blades were transported and delivered to the vessel without incident and to client satisfaction. The Vestas Bavla-to-Kandla programme is a demonstration of what sustained, high-volume logistics excellence looks like in practice — not a single impressive movement, but a thousand of them, each executed with the same standard as the last.
